 Kerensa Konesni, News Reporter/Stringer
Kerensa Shaw Konesni was born in Putnam, CT. She attended St. Mary's School as well as the Putnam public schools before graduating from Putnam High School in 2004. Kerensa was also a member of the first graduating class of ARts at the Capitol Theatre, an Arts Magnet High School in Willimantic, CT. While at Putnam High, Kerensa was a Co-Captain of the volleyball team, as well as performing in musicals with the Theater Department.
In 2004, Kerensa enrolled at the University of Hartford, graduating Cum Laude in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree of Arts. Kerensa majored in Cinema Studies and Experimental Filmmaking, and minored in Art History. While a junior in college, Kerensa, co-organized an international symposium at UHA entitled Feminishm(s): Film, Video, Politics. Several of her films were also chosen to be included in international film festivals. Kerensa's love of art is not limited to the visual; she is also a musician and avid reader.
After graduating, Kerensa lived in West Hartford, CT and McKinney, TX before returning to Putnam to re-establish herself within the community in which she was raised. Kerensa takes pride in working in and for her local community as a Stringer at WINY, as well as volunteering for local organizations. Her family, including grandmother Estelle Konesni of Pomfret Center and Stanley and Marion Shaw of Putnam, have provided a stellar example of what it means to truly participate and immerse oneself in the local community, and Kerensa looks forward to emulating that way of life throughout her career.
Kerensa would like to thank Gary O and Karen for giving her the opportunity to work for the WINY News Department, and considers the entire WINY team to be the best bunch she's ever worked with (even that Andy fella)!
