|John Wilbur, Sports Director|
Hi, my name is John Wilbur and I’m the Sports Director for WINY first and then I turn into a Marketing agent after I get off the air in the morning where I sell ad time for the station. The latter is a job I truly enjoy after taking over in October 2010. I’m one of the Stations Flex guy’s doing a Sports Talk show on Saturday mornings from 9-10 with Talk Show host Paul Coutu, before I spin tunes for a couple of hours on Saturday from 10-noon. I’m the fill-in host on the Morning Show when the boss is away and I also do all of the High School play-by-play action that can be heard right here on winyradio.com! Basically I do a little bit of everything; you never know you may even hear me doing a live breaking news story from the road sometime.
I live in Douglas,MA and grew up in Webster. I graduated from Bartlett High Schoolin Webster where I played football and baseball for the Indians. I then moved toFalmouth, MA where I shell fished commercially for three years before moving back to Webster. In 1999, I got married to my beautiful wife Dawn, we have no children but we do have two Hansom Great Pyrenees named Goliath and Zeus and tiger cat named Wally, along with their pet turtles Ziggy and Marley.
Before following my passion for sports and radio, I worked as a chef and then as the Food Service Director of a nursing home in Milford, MA. I attended Connecticut School of Broadcasting in the winter of 2005 and began my radio career inBostona Street Teamer for Mike FM and WAAF until Gary and Karen Osbrey game me my first on-air gig as a Sports Reporter/Anchor. Thank You! This is what I was meant to do!
Along with my wife Dawn, I own and operate a mobile disc jockey service called JD’s – a dj where “party” is our middle name! If you’re looking for an affordable, fun DJ service, you’ve found them. So give us a call the next time you’re planning an event for the best party in town. Call (508) 476-3709 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’m a die hard Red Sox fan and love the New England Patriots. Boston sports are the best in the country and I hope to someday be the voice of one of the best cities in the world. If there is something you’d like to ask me, you can email me here at the station at email@example.com
Thanks for checking out my bio and be sure to listen weekdays from 6-9 to hear all your local and national sports news. Don’t forget to tune in on Saturday mornings from 9-10 for the best Sports Talk show around and your favorite hits from 10-noon!!!
